NASA States Chance To Witness CME With Naked Eye...06/21/01
by Mitch Battros (ECTV)

Nasa has just released a statement saying for the first time in recent history, we may witness a CME (coronal mass ejection) occur during today's total solar eclipse. Can you imagine what this might look like? I sure wish I was in Africa right about now.
This could be the most profound event of this generation. However, I have a feeling this is just the beginning of many phenomenal events to come.

Although Nasa suggest this could be the first event of its kind in recorded history, I would have to challenge their definition of "recorded history". I would suggest an event such as this has indeed been recorded by our ancestors. One only needs to look at the incredible petroglyphs of the Anasazi Indians at Chaco Canyon, also that of the Hopi. Or the symbols of the Mayan Calendar, or the Egyptian hieroglyphs of "Ra" and other Sun symbols.

No Nasa, I would suggest our ancestors have seen this many times. The question remains...what might this unbelievable sequence of events might mean to each one of us. Also, what is its more than likely meaning to our Earth and solar system?

Hmm "It is when we understand the past, we will know the present, which tells us of the future" (mitch battros)

NASA's Statement:

"Thursday's eclipse takes place with our star very near the peak of its 11-year activity cycle. As a result there's a good chance sky watchers in the path of totality will glimpse something truly rare: a coronal mass ejection (a many-billion ton cloud of gas, or "CME") billowing through the corona and away from the Sun. SOHO coronagraphs record CMEs all the time, but this could be the first time in recorded history that humans view such an eruption with their unaided eyes."
