I just have to wonder why the powers-that-be on the surface are so bent on poisoning the environment.
You would think that whatever pollution gets into the ocean water will make it to the hollow portion, but the openings aren't so big, and I don't imagine that the inflow/outflow is so great, either. First of all, I would think that the Antarctic orifice is rather stopped up by ice. That means that any inflow/outflow would have to go through one opening, the Arctic opening. You know, two windows in a room really ventilate well, just one window doesn't ventilate as well.
