People,
Mr. Cater makes a tremendous and significant comment here:
"The central sun would naturally radiate high concentrations of photon aggragates/soft
electrons in all directions. Those whose paths take them close to the edge
of the opening will encounter much of the Earth's atmosphere. Many of these
will tend to disintegrate as they pass through the atmosphere. Most of these
disintegrations will occur some distance above the Earth's surface as they
leave the opening. Those whose paths are further from the edge, including
the center, will encounter little or no atmosphere, and thus travel to outer
space without disintegrating [right away]. A ring effect is the result.... "
He is saying that the photon aggragates/soft particles/a.k.a electrons shooting through the middle of the doughnut-shaped opening don't disintegrate right away, and that this is why the aurora takes on a ring-like shape.
This means that the air in the middle of the ring-like opening is thin,
which means that the opening is wide, because Rod M. Cluff mentioned that the atmosphere is significantly thick about 45 miles up. So Cater's observation confirms that the opening, at the neck, must be at least 90 miles across, let's say 45 on each
side, and then it is thin enough that the Photon Aggragates just shoot through without disintegrating until higher up above the amosphere.
This is how Cater arrives at the figure of at least 90 miles across..
