Well, In the book The Awesome Life Force, Joseph H. Cater stipulates that the magnetic pole is not a point, but rather a flow of particles emanating from the inner cavity, and flowing outwards. He reminds his reader that a flow follows the path of least resistance. And the course of a flow can also be adjusted by increased, or diminished, intensity. Also, if the rim of the opening is lower at one point, or if there is some kind of break at one point, then this can channel a flow. And if the rim of the opening is not completely symmetrical with the neck of the hourglass opening, then this will tend sling the flow to one side with more outreach (the most influential scenario) With all this in mind, the flow of radiated particles out of the opening seems to shift a bit to one side, and the compass gives the impression that there is a magnetic point just offset from the Pole. But this is not the case. It is just a flow that jets out further than the flow around the rest of the rim, and is picked up by the compass as if it were a point.

This all-around-flow phenomenon led the Russians to conclude, earlier on, that there was another magnetic pole on their side, but they were just picking up the outflow on the other side. Then they made a diagram of the magnetic outflow from the circular rim, squeezed together in the form of a linear confluence. The image found through the link immediately below is from Page 65 of The Hollow Earth, by Raymond Bernard. My edition seems to be the first printing of the book. The explanation of the diagram begins in the middle of Page 66, and continues on Page 67.

Frankly his other book "The Ultimate Reality" is also worth the read as it was made to be a somewhat of summary of "The Awesome Life Force" if I recall correctly. It has a little different approach and perspective and calls out sections of "The Awesome Life Force."
