Celtic Voice,
I think you put way too much faith in modern science and it's so-called advancement which is, for the most part, based on imperfect sense perception. What science knows about reality is only a drop in the bucket. Ancient civilizations, including the Vedic, were far more advanced and developed as shown in all the amazing archeological discoveries that are inexplicable by modern science. As a matter of fact, the real history of the universe doesn't go from the lesser developed to the more evolved but the other way round. The most intelligent exist first and lower states of being gradually develop. In effect, we are devolving right now.
When I return home (to my own computer files) I will present some evidence that shows most of the existing developements in human civilization (mathematics, astronomy and astrology, medicine, even the concept of the atom) actually originate from India and it's scholars and scriptures. It is the most ancient wisdom coming from the highest entities of the universe who had a hand in making things the way they are, even the hollow earth.
Dean, do you know Dr. Richard Thompson's explanation for the Vedic concept of the Moon being further from Earth than the Sun. He was a mathemetician and scholar and had a very logical explanation.
Saul (aka Sunanda)
The Vedic masters lived long ago and did not have the knowledge of the structure of the universe the way we do now. They may have attuned to its rhythm and 'heard' its song, but they knew nothing of its measurements. I would trust science before the Vedic masters, regarding the planets.

These descriptions are quite detailed and sometimes difficult to comprehend exactly. To most of the readers here, the sanskrit words will make no sense whatsoever. However I encourage everyone to read this through in it's entirety as you will get a sense of it nonetheless.

I am simply repeating the message here, so to speak, from the authorized sources, the Vedas. In that regard it is important to remember that what is often referred to as the wisdom of the ancient masters and the source of universal knowledge can be ascertained in the Vedas. They are not a set of dogmatic scriptures but are sources of revelatory knowledge coming from the realizations of self-realized masters through a chain of disciplic procession in which the student achieves the same revelation through meditation, divine service and purity. It is not blind faith. The statements of these literatures are accepted as truth by Vedic followers because of their authentic sources and remain unchanged through the millenia. Thus we can rely on these accurate descriptions, whether they meet with our sensual perceptions or defy them.
