Sol & Dean,

Deano, Sol,

I want to defer to the two resident Vedic experts on where
I can find the statement that the Moon is considered further
from the Earth than the Sun. I remember it had something
to do with a geometric formula, rather than a straight line
type of thing, but can/do you know what section/book that
information is located? Thanks in advance.

Mike,

Sorry for the delay in replying to your inquiry:

"I want to defer to the two resident Vedic experts on where

I have located and reproduced below the exact section of the Bhagavata Purana (Canto 5, Chapter 22) wherein this is described and have included a few other poignant descriptions as well. These descriptions are quite detailed and sometimes difficult to comprehend exactly. To most of the readers here, the sanskrit words will make no sense whatsoever. However I encourage everyone to read this through in it's entirety as you will get a sense of it nonetheless.

I have left the explanation (geometric vs. straight line) up to Dean as he is an experienced and educated astrologer/astronomer. I am not. I am simply repeating the message here, so to speak, from the authorized sources, the Vedas. In that regard it is important to remember that what is often referred to as the wisdom of the ancient masters and the source of universal knowledge can be ascertained in the Vedas. They are not a set of dogmatic scriptures but are sources of revelatory knowledge coming from the realizations of self-realized masters through a chain of disciplic procession in which the student achieves the same revelation through meditation, divine service and purity. It is not blind faith. The statements of these literatures are accepted as truth by Vedic followers because of their authentic sources and remain unchanged through the millenia. Thus we can rely on these accurate descriptions, whether they meet with our sensual perceptions or defy them.

"King
Parékñit inquired from Çukadeva Gosvämé: My dear lord, you have
already affirmed the truth that the supremely powerful sun-god
travels around Dhruvaloka with both Dhruvaloka and Mount Sumeru on
his right. Yet at the same time the sun-god faces the signs of the
zodiac and keeps Sumeru and Dhruvaloka on his left. How can we
reasonably accept that the sun-god proceeds with Sumeru and
Dhruvaloka on both his left and right simultaneously? Çré Çukadeva
Gosvämé clearly answered: When a potter's wheel is moving and small
ants located on that big wheel are moving with it, one can see that
their motion is different from that of the wheel because they appear
sometimes on one part of the wheel and sometimes on another.
Similarly, the signs and constellations, with Sumeru and Dhruvaloka
on their right, move with the wheel of time, and the antlike sun and
other planets move with them. The sun and planets, however, are seen
in different signs and constellations at different times. This
indicates that their motion is different from that of the zodiac and
the wheel of time itself. The original cause of the cosmic
manifestation is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Näräyaëa.
When great saintly persons, fully aware of the Vedic knowledge,
offered prayers to the Supreme Person, He descended to this material
world in the form of the sun to benefit all the planets and purify
fruitive activities. He divided Himself into twelve parts and created
seasonal forms, beginning with spring. In this way He created the
seasonal qualities, such as heat, cold and so on. The sun-god, who is
Näräyaëa, or Viñëu, the soul of all the worlds, is situated in
outer space between the upper and lower portions of the universe.
Passing through twelve months on the wheel of time, the sun comes in
touch with twelve different signs of the zodiac and assumes twelve
different names according to those signs. The aggregate of those
twelve months is called a saàvatsara, or an entire year. According
to lunar calculations, two fortnights—one of the waxing moon and
the other of the waning—form one month. That same period is one day
and night for the planet Pitåloka. According to stellar
calculations, a month equals two and one quarter constellations. When
the sun travels for two months, a season passes, and therefore the
seasonal changes are considered parts of the body of the year. Thus
the time the sun takes to rotate through half of outer space is
called an ayana, or its period of movement [in the north or in the
south]. The sun-god has three speeds—slow, fast and moderate. The
time he takes to travel entirely around the spheres of heaven, earth
and space at these three speeds is referred to, by learned scholars,
by the five names Saàvatsara, Parivatsara, Iòävatsara, Anuvatsara
and Vatsara. Above the rays of the sunshine by a distance of 100,000
yojanas [800,000 miles] is the moon, which travels at a speed faster
than that of the sun. In two lunar fortnights the moon travels
through the equivalent of a saàvatsara of the sun, in two and a
quarter days it passes through a month of the sun, and in one day it
passes through a fortnight of the sun. When the moon is waxing, the
illuminating portions of it increase daily, thus creating day for the
demigods and night for the pitäs. When the moon is waning, however,
it causes night for the demigods and day for the pitäs. In this way
the moon passes through each constellation of stars in thirty
muhürtas [an entire day]. The moon is the source of nectarean
coolness that influences the growth of food grains, and therefore the
moon-god is considered the life of all living entities. He is
consequently called Jéva, the chief living being within the
universe. Because the moon is full of all potentialities, it
represents the influence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The
moon is the predominating deity of everyone's mind, and therefore the
moon-god is called Manomaya. He is also called Annamaya because he
gives potency to all herbs and plants, and he is called Amåtamaya
because he is the source of life for all living entities. The moon
pleases the demigods, pitäs, human beings, animals, birds, reptiles,
trees, plants and all other living entities. Everyone is satisfied by
the presence of the moon. Therefore the moon is also called Sarvamaya
[all-pervading]. There are many stars located 200,000 yojanas
[1,600,000 miles] above the moon. By the supreme will of the Supreme
Personality of Godhead, they are fixed to the wheel of time, and thus
they rotate with Mount Sumeru on their right, their motion being
different from that of the sun. There are twenty-eight important
stars, headed by Abhijit. Some 1,600,000 miles above this group of
stars is the planet Venus, which moves at almost exactly the same
pace as the sun according to swift, slow and moderate movements.
Sometimes Venus moves behind the sun, sometimes in front of the sun
and sometimes along with it. Venus nullifies the influence of planets
that are obstacles to rainfall. Consequently its presence causes
rainfall, and it is therefore considered very favorable for all
living beings within this universe. This has been accepted by learned
scholars. Mercury is described to be similar to Venus, in that it
moves sometimes behind the sun, sometimes in front of the sun and
sometimes along with it. It is 1,600,000 miles above Venus, or
7,200,000 miles above earth. Mercury, which is the son of the moon,
is almost always very auspicious for the inhabitants of the universe,
but when it does not move along with the sun, it forbodes cyclones,
dust, irregular rainfall, and waterless clouds. In this way it
creates fearful conditions due to inadequate or excessive rainfall.
Situated 1,600,000 miles above Mercury, or 8,800,000 miles above
earth, is the planet Mars. If this planet does not travel in a
crooked way, it crosses through each sign of the zodiac in three
fortnights and in this way travels through all twelve, one after
another. It almost always creates unfavorable conditions in respect
to rainfall and other influences. Situated 1,600,000 miles above
Mars, or 10,400,000 miles above earth, is the planet Jupiter, which
travels through one sign of the zodiac within the period of a
Parivatsara. If its movement is not curved, the planet Jupiter is
very favorable to the brähmaëas of the universe. Situated 1,600,000
miles above Jupiter, or 12,000,000 miles above earth, is the planet
Saturn, which passes through one sign of the zodiac in thirty months
and covers the entire zodiac circle in thirty Anuvatsaras. This
planet is always very inauspicious for the universal situation.
Situated 8,800,000 miles above Saturn, or 20,800,000 miles above
earth, are the seven saintly sages, who are always thinking of the
well-being of the inhabitants of the universe. They circumambulate
the supreme abode of Lord Viñëu, known as Dhruvaloka, the polestar."

The Vedic masters lived long ago and did not have the knowledge of the structure of the universe the way we do now. They may have attuned to its rhythm and 'heard' its song, but they knew nothing of its measurements. I would trust science before the Vedic masters, regarding the planets.

Alena,

But the demigods did. They informed the brahmin caste about medical science, true astrology, karma, reincarnation, and other branches of knowledge; and the warrior caste about military technology, the technology of frequencies of mantras and such.

But now all of that seems to be lost from the face of the Earth. From the face ...

sometimes on one part of the wheel and sometimes on another.

Celtic Voice,
I think you put way too much faith in modern science and it's so-called advancement which is, for the most part, based on imperfect sense perception. What science knows about reality is only a drop in the bucket. Ancient civilizations, including the Vedic, were far more advanced and developed as shown in all the amazing archeological discoveries that are inexplicable by modern science. As a matter of fact, the real history of the universe doesn't go from the lesser developed to the more evolved but the other way round. The most intelligent exist first and lower states of being gradually develop. In effect, we are devolving right now.
When I return home (to my own computer files) I will present some evidence that shows most of the existing developements in human civilization (mathematics, astronomy and astrology, medicine, even the concept of the atom) actually originate from India and it's scholars and scriptures. It is the most ancient wisdom coming from the highest entities of the universe who had a hand in making things the way they are, even the hollow earth.
Dean, do you know Dr. Richard Thompson's explanation for the Vedic concept of the Moon being further from Earth than the Sun. He was a mathemetician and scholar and had a very logical explanation.
Saul (aka Sunanda)

The Vedic masters lived long ago and did not have the knowledge of the structure of the universe the way we do now. They may have attuned to its rhythm and 'heard' its song, but they knew nothing of its measurements. I would trust science before the Vedic masters, regarding the planets.

CV,

The Vedic masters knew that the planet was and is hollow, which is more than one learns in any universtiy science department nowadays.

The historical part of the Vedic literature tells of visits from regents from other planets, and UFO-type mother ships with fantastic flight characteristics; so I think that they knew of measurements from one planet to another, and diameters.

So then our knowledge is not new but old. They never mentioned the
Galactic world or other beings existing, though, especially the hollow earth
beings, only the Nagas, unless the beings living in the center of the earth
are the Nagas.

Alena,

But the demigods did. They informed the brahmin caste about medical science, true astrology, karma, reincarnation, and other branches of knowledge; and the warrior caste about military technology, the technology of frequencies of mantras and such.

But now all of that seems to be lost from the face of the Earth. From the face ...

I alway thought why the semigods never told the humans writers about
science the way we know now like all other planets existence and
the galactic world, extraterrestrials and the hollow earth as we know it.
To me it shows that what is been written was never dictated by god or semigods
but was human knowledge handed out by humans minds.

already affirmed the truth that the supremely powerful sun-god
travels around Dhruvaloka with both Dhruvaloka and Mount Sumeru on

zodiac and keeps Sumeru and Dhruvaloka on his left. How can we
reasonably accept that the sun-god proceeds with Sumeru and
Dhruvaloka on both his left and right simultaneously?

Alena,

Yes, the Vedic masters did mention the beings living in the hollow cavity.

A few chapters before the Bhagavad Gita narration, which comes from a larger work called the Mahabharata, Krishna spoke to Arjuna's brother telling him about the alliances that King Jarasandha had made with the Vedic kings of the inner world: Krishna_Comments

Speaking of Jarasandha, there is a narration about him following Krishna and his cunterpart avatar Balaram to the North until they came to an 88 mile high mountain. Now, unless you want to introduce the astral plane all of the sudden and say that they made a quick switch to the astral plane, even when it wasn't mentioned; or that the Vedic masters were full of poppycock when wrote all this (not!!), then you have to admit that if they accessed the opening and entered the hollow earth, then there is the possibility of continuation up to and including an 88 mile high peak.

If we followed nature's way, then we could compare the exterior of our planet and conclude that it is rather smooth compared to the interior, which would have to be much rougher and jagged than the exterior- much, much, much more jagged. This natural comparison would allow for ann 88 mile-high peak.

And know that the interior of our planet contains huge, crytaline deposits. Could it be that, further down, the strata become crystaline strata? Could the Earth be very akin to a geode?

And the Brahmanda Purana directly mentions that the Sons of Sagara "entered an opening in the middle of the northern ocean with great delight." They entered the middle portion, which the Bhagavat Purana terms the "madhyastan". (Don't mention this to the U.S. military, if it ends with "stan", they might bomb it) Specifically, the Bhagavat mentions in yet another narration that the madhyastan was awarded to the sage Kapila, and that that was the sage that had the sacraficial horse in his possession, which the sons of Sagara were looking for. So when we say that they entered an opening in the middle of the northern ocean and found the horse with Kapila, this means that they were in the hollow portion.

So specific mention is made about the hollow earth by the Vedica masters ... we know that they called it the madhyastan, and that the sage Kapila was its leader at one point; i.e., we even know a former leader's name!

And there is more. We can develop this further if you all would like to continue discussing and chipping away at all this.

Later, gator!

The Vedic masters lived long ago and did not have the knowledge of the structure of the universe the way we do now. They may have attuned to its rhythm and 'heard' its song, but they knew nothing of its measurements. I would trust science before the Vedic masters, regarding the planets.

I have located and reproduced below the exact section of the Bhagavata Purana (Canto 5, Chapter 22) wherein this is described and have included a few other poignant descriptions as well.

I love the vedic scriptures and all criptures in general, the vedic are
very detailed in discribing the earth, they also tell about life after death
as freedom of the soul. They believe that al,l including mountains
and rivers has a life, that gods are energies like water, earth, air, wind,
ethers, trees, ect.
When they talk about the center of the earth, though, is the place
where the Puranas send the rebellious sons of the gods, thats something for me
to ponder about.

Maybe the Anunnaki story is real, maybe we are the children of
these beings that were send here, the Vedic has a story that is
different but in a way or another it all maybe be the same story told
in different ways and times. Mostly borrowed from the most ancient texts.

From the face ...

science the way we know now like all other planets existence and
the galactic world, extraterrestrials and the hollow earth as we know it.
To me it shows that what is been written was never dictated by god or semigods
but was human knowledge handed out by humans minds.

Thus we can rely on these accurate descriptions, whether they meet with our sensual perceptions or

defy them.

Saul (aka, Sunanda)

This is simply not accurate. It is described that the center of the Earth is where Vedic, human culture resides.

The crust in between is where hell is to be found. The hollow earth is on the surface, albeit the inner extension.

Good night,

Dear Dean

So where did these children of God were send? On top of the Earth?
That would make sense, on the earth crust, out of Eden, out of the paradise,
out means out, out on the crust or out of the heavens or out of some other
other near planets and on this
Earth.
By now, after they have been mixing
their bodies with the Earth humanoids, we must be their children,
the free living beings that were here, (Avatar Movie!)
where there was some kind of life already.
I am reading the Mahabarathra
a long hindu epic war where semigods, through karma penance, were send here
and wars have not stopped since then.
I ask
myself if we endeed are the children of these war lovers semigods,
fighting among ourselves with differen weapons.

Where do you think these powerful sender or keeprs live and our departed loved ones?
Maybe that dark tunnel that goes backwards, after death, takes all into the
Hollow Earth.
NDE rs describe this Light full of love and not hurtful to the eyes.
Just like the center of the earth SUN. The Light like the Akashi Records
holds the truth of past, present and future lives of the earth beings, and
for us,
maybe, this is just as good as it gets..We live
here and they rule from the inside, when we die we go there for a while and
later they kick us back on the crust & the wheel of life keeps on turning,

Bhudda had many lives, still keeps on coming back, if he keeps on coming back
out, what change do we have to go and for stay in the better place?
The more I learn the more questions I have. And nothing of this maybe be true at all.
No one knows the truth.

I read the life of Yoganada Paramahamsa where many spiritual masters
still live here after their death, they keep on appearing to their followers.
Most true that those that die enlightened and know some of life truth
still cannot go anywhere also but live here, or on top of mountains,
isnide mountains or
in the Hollow Earth, always available to their earth wroshipping followers.
That does not sound much of great eternal ife if one is prisoner of earth and
think that the universe is vast but cannot be reached and entirely
known no matter what.
Knowledge can make us smart but most of the time
can make us crazy, maybe due to the fact that this worldy knowledge does
not take one to the universal truth, man made truth that does not free the spirit but
keeps on trapping one's soul and bound it to more illusions and more questions.
