Morris K. Jessup, scientist, astronomer, astrophysicist, mathematician, researcher, lecturer, and author, during field work on an archaelogical expedition to study Mayan and pre-Inca ruins, concluded they had been built in antediluvian times with the aid of levitating devices operated from 'sky-ships' of some sort. This was 30 years before Von Daniken's 'ancient astronaut' theory.
In the 1950's he undertook to continue studying the still unrecognised principle of antigravity and UFO's. In 1955 he published 'The Case for the UFO' and believed "the utilization of the universal gravitational field as a source of energy" was the all important key to man's development. Jessup received a peculiar letter in different coloured ink, misspelled, with many parts underlined or in bold capitals. The contents referred to references in Jessup's book about defying gravity to lift heavy objects. It was from Carlos Allende. Jessup was by now writing, 'UFO and the Bible' and giving lectures. (Allende may have been present at these lectures.)
Allende claimed in further correspondance to have been a victim of the Philadelphia Experiment in 1943, when a ship vanished into an oblate spheroidal 'hyper' field applied by generators on board and reappeared within minutes at the dock in Norfolk, it appeared again within minutes back at Philadelphia. Many of the crew had completely disappeared forever, some were fused into the ship's deck and half the sailors and officers involved went stark raving mad. Mad as Hatters.
Allende went on to describe how men, "go blank" or "get stuck" they call it hell incorporated. Two or more men had to "lay hands" on sailors, lest they "freeze out." A highly complicated piece of equiptment had to be constructed to unfreeze those who were in "true freeze" or "deep freeze," the longest a man was in this state was six months. They come out of it a gibbering wreck because a day to us is much longer for them in "freeze."
One sailor walked through a wall of his quarters in front of his wife and kids and never returned. This was experienced by crew for decades after the event. One man who "froze" with a common small-boat compass in his possesion caught fire and the one closest went into "the flame" when laying hands on him. They both burned for 18 hours.
The next twist in the tale came when the ONR received a heavily annotated copy of Jessups book, in three different coloured inks with underlining etc. from someone who seemed to have intimate knowledge of UFO's, their propulsion, origin and history. The hand-written annotations seemed to be explanations of the disappearances of planes, boats and people within the Bermuda Triangle.
Also mentioned were the undersea cities of extraterrestrial creatures referred to as L.M's (good) and the S.M.'s (bad.) In addition, odd terms like, mothership, home-ship, dead-ship, great ark, great bombardment, great return, great war, little-men, force fields, deep freezes, sheets of diamond, cosmic rays, force cutters, inlay work, clear talk, telepathing, nodes, vortices and magnetic net.
Commander George.W.Hoover sent for Dr, Jessup in 1957. He wanted to know who wrote the annotations (obviously aware that this was a survivor from 1943.) Jessup confirmed it must be Allende, who had written to him, Hoover demanded the letters. A book was reproduced complete with annotations to circulate among their 'top-military-people.' Jessup received a copy.
In 1958 he gave his original annotated version of 'The Case for the UFO, to his close friend Dr. Ivan Sanderson, imploring him to read it, then lock it up for safe keeping incase anything should happen to him. Sanderson was repeatedly asked who had this book, he refused to say. (It was him.) Dr, Morris K. Jessup expressed terror at what had been an endless stream of 'coincidences' in his life and was very distresed. He was soon after involved in a serious car accident, from which he recovered but was very depressed. Morris K.Jessup, the World's first free-thinker on the UFO phenomenon, finally died in 1959 from carbon-monoxide poisoning in his car.
