I doubt that they came from some distant star system. Why would they come from so far just to bother some Peruvian villagers? They probably popped up from cavern worlds below. Perhaps the villagers are doing something provokative.
@deandddd , could it be that the very concept of the Green Goblin originally came from ancient sightings of such beings , in other parts of the world...??

Yes - Certain underground beings have been reported on different continents, starting with Big Foot and the Abominable Snowman. Same creatures, different names, different continents, underground habitats.
