Dean, I just returned from a trip to Washington State. I've just
written to a friend who's lived there his lifetime.... I'll see whether
he knows anything of this legend. Sure sounds a bit far fetched and
like the story is embellished. Haven't we all met people in our
lifetime who knowingly, or unknowingly, enjoy stretching stories?

Dean, this alleged hole is in the Snoqualmie National Forest, which is
where Mt. Rainer is. My friend has hiked many times in various places
in that forest, he likes the outdoors, hunts and fishes a lot, and knows
the people in the area who do the same. He says he only heard of this
alleged hole a few years ago, but has not heard of any verifiable
investigation or any other report. Doesn't know anyone who has taken
it seriously.

Well, I think that this is one reason we put things out, to subject claims to the acid test. If we get known for just saying anything, it is not going to help us much.
