Test-drilling in the Antarctic
Deep drilling has yielded surprising details on the flow of ice in the Antarctic. NASA researchers had drilled to a depth of 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) at four locations in the West Antarctic. The researchers encountered rivers up to 1.4 meters (4.6 ft) deep that flow through the individual layers of ice. In this way, ground rocks are transported much more rapidly than previously assumed.
The underground streams were observed using two special cameras integrated in the drill. The Antarctic mission was a test run for the new drill. NASA researchers hope that they will be able to use the technique on Jupiter's moon Europa one day. The moon is covered in a thick ice crust that is considered comparable to that in the Antarctic. Further experiments will focus on microbe probes capable of detecting infinitesimal organic traces in the ice. The researchers hope to use these probes on Mars at some point in the future.

This must be the same drilling that I was talking about. Though
the radio program did not mentioned that it was a NASA project,
but I that it is possible for Norwegians to work for NASA, too. It
would be interesting to know more about this river or rivers.
Nameerf: I sent that page in for you, I thought it might be what you were
talking about. I did a search after I read your article for rivers in
Antarctica. site http://www.futureframe.de/news/010321-2.htm There
was also a river at the South Pole mentioned in one of the stories of the
ISCE Newsletter some time ago. They also mentioned a program that it would
be on. When I watched the program they briefly showed a river coming out of
a valley that was between moutain cliffs. It was very brief and they never
mentioned the location. I assumed it was the South Pole, but that can't be
verified. From: Ralph

Ralph,
Can you also mail the link, please. I can't go to the site through
