Yes, there is a lot to be tied together. The worlds of the demons have been described in all the worlds scripture as being underground. Currently, though, this is minimized and relegated to "underground but on the astral plane" or things like that, or ignored. But they do exist, pysically, in cavern words below, and they engage in the manipulation of the surface world. Nimue, the Lady of the Lake from the Arthur historical folklore, is a good example of this.
Have you seen this one about the underground demon who, as usual, kidnapped a lady?

They talk about the Greys who like to abduct Earth girls, but they put it that way to deviate your attention. Earth girls are surface girls, and the Greys are underground co planetarians. If it was that way in Vedic times, when Arjuna spent a few months underground with a Naga princess ("princess" implies a whole kingdom down there, right? According to the Mahabbharat, no less!), and it was that way in the Ritudvaj story. What to speak of now? It is kaliyuga.
