Based upon the study of lava formations in Hawaii, it has been deduced that the Earth's magnetic field reverses at intervals, ranging from tens of thousands to many millions of years, with an average interval of approximately 250,000 years. The last such event, called the Brunhes-Matuyama reversal, occurred some 780,000 years ago.
The mechanism responsible for geomagnetic reversals is not well understood. Some scientists have produced models for the core of the Earth wherein the magnetic field is only quasi-stable and the poles can spontaneously migrate from one orientation to the other over the course of a few hundred to a few thousand years. Other scientists propose that the geodynamo first turns itself off, either spontaneously or through some external action like a comet impact, and then restarts itself with the magnetic "North" pole pointing either North or South. External events are not likely to be routine causes of magnetic field reversals due to the lack of a correlation between the age of impact craters and the timing of reversals. Regardless of the cause, when magnetic "North" reappears in the opposite direction this is a reversal, whereas turning off and returning in the same direction is called a geomagnetic excursion.

I doubt that we are barred from entering the hollow earth because of any incongruence between our mental tuning and the electromagnetic frequency that exists in the Earth's hollow cavity. We could physically go there, the only real barrier would be human efforts to impede us.Sheltered from the Sun's harmful radiations, though, the inner cavity has a more salubrious environment.
The geomagnetic canopy has to be cause by the fact that the Earth is a spinning solenoid, a hollow ball with openings at the opposite ends that spins generates a magnetic canopy.
A dynamo effect generating a magnetic canopy is impossible as per Mr. Cater's observation:

The conventional theory of geomagnetism has about the same merit as some other theories already discussed. According to the accepted viewpoint, the major portion of geomagnetism is the result of electric currents in a molten iron core 2,000 miles below the surface. The theory is automatically destroyed, because an iron core doesn't exist. But even if one did exist, the conventional conclusion would be equally false. Scientists are somewhat vague as to how a magnetic field could extend 2,000 miles beyond an electric current. It requires a very powerful current to produce even relatively weak magnetic effects a very short distance above the flow. The electrical resistance of iron, at the alleged temperatures of the core, would be staggering. A steady flow of electricity requires constant potential differences. How are such potential differences produced and maintained in this hypothetical core?
The magnitude, width, and depth of such currents would have to be unbelievable to extend the magnetic field even a small fraction of the distance required, and the EMF required to produce it would be even more incredible. Where could such an EMF come from? So far, scientists seem reluctant to explain this, especially since these currents are confined to a ball and would therefore follow closed paths.

I believe the very reason we can not enter the planet earth is due to our mind, brain's frequency being distracted by the pollution of waves supplied by the mechanisms of modern day surface existence.
People have described greater euphoric experiences being on or near extinct volcanoes due to the theta wave they release.
Generally people who are unable to locate openings to the subterranean have yet to experience the subtler frequencies, wave lengths, or what are described as ley lines - energy transits.
Also I read that people who eat meat get 'stuck' in the 3rd dimension, experience suspension of their consciousness.
It may be that as one tries to enter the Earth they are stopped because their vibration at the light cellular level is not high enough.
