Comet Lovejoy

“Comet Lovejoy stunned scientists in December 2011 when it flew through the hot atmosphere of the sun and emerged intact. The comet was discovered by amateur astronomer Terry Lovejoy of Australia.”

Image shamelessly lifted from CNN Saturday, March 2, 2013; the comments were, too.

About my comments ... if the comet made it around the Sun without melting, then a comet is not a giant snowball composed of ice and whatever. It is most likely vacuuming up particles from the Sun and not giving off anything at all.

It will come back again as a sun grazer at/on/to perihelion year 2633 , if you want to wait . It is not nibiru .
It did suffer mass loss with a dusty trail before it disappeared . .

It was going fast enough not to be caught by the Sun , 0.2% of speed of light .
