Cater, Bowen, and the Trek Inwards

List Members,

I had some communications with Mr. Cater by telephone around 2004,
and he related the following to me.

Mr. Cater told me that he was approached by a fellow named Jim Bowen
around the beginning of the 1960s. Jim had heard that Cater was a
hollow earth proponent. They ended up forming a real friendship, and
even went out camping together.

Jim told Cater that, as he was being mustered out of the Navy just
after WWII, he was offered the opportunity to volunteer for a
mission. He accepted.

He was put together with a group of 100 people and they were briefed
and told that they were going to the Antarctic, into some kind of
depression, at least that much they were told, if not more.

They went South from Melbourne sometime around the time of Operation
High Jump - I don't really know if it was before or after. Anyway,
Jim said that they went with an icebreaker and were set down at some
point, then that they marched towards the South Pole for three
months. A b it later, 50 went back and 50 continued. Jim was among
those that went back.

He said that they marched into a mist for the longest time, that the
ice melted away, and that it got grassy and that that they saw some
type of dinosaur type way off in the distance, that they back peddled
a bit from there and went around.

For what its worth ...
