Big Brother On The Net

It seemed innocent enough. Yesterday, I logged onto the Internet to check my e-mails, shop for a new wristwatch, send flowers, buy a gift, check out a new hobby site and research a newspaper article. I didn't visit any porn sites -- my 'Net service is filtered against all such content. I said innocent, right? Wrong.
I was probably tracked through all those processes by Web bug technology that not only followed my wanderings but kept a record of where I went, what I bought and with whom I communicated. Sound scary? It is.
Mark Boal, writing in Brill's Content magazine, researched the Big Brother aspects of the Internet with counter-surveillance expert Richard Smith and was himself shocked and frightened. Boal discovered that even DoubleClick -- the largest Web ad agency -- was collecting information on his and Smith's visits. They learned that DoubleClick and other advertisers have bug technology in place that tracks all your moves on the Internet and logs them into profiles in massive databases.
Explore information about impotence or HIV-related drugs, and you're tracked and logged. Enter a chat room for alternative lifestyles -- even if you are doing research for a Ph.D. in social pathologies at a Christian university -- and you're tracked and logged. Enter a Christian site, the same.
In the hands of evil people, this data has horrific potential. Even for the Antichrist!

Big Brother On The Net
Ralph---I believe this. I am always having problems with my incoming mail. I belong to 15 groups, most news, with the exception of APH, Mike's Group, and a Paranormal group. I have checked the groups by way of My Yahoo Groups and well over a 100+ posts have been made which I have not received since 6/19, and, for the last 1.5 days, I have not had one of my posts to any group come back through to me............kind of funny eh? Outgoing, no prob! Never been quite this blatant before, usually a bit more subtle------or, there is a cyber thief who finds my mail fascinating, a serial cyber thief on the loose? That must be it............Leslee

PS--Ralph, do you have some special power that yours came through right away? Maybe cuz it was sent from the sight?

Hazel: I am not sure exactly what you mean! and Leslee I know that email cannot be above a certain size or they cannot be delivered. I have had some returned saying that, so larger ones should be sent as a link. I still have had my share of email trouble. I sent this article in mainly because some time ago someone posted a question: Is our group being spied on by Big Brother? From: Ralph

the last 1.5

I'm getting some, mainly Dharma's text, with two days delay as the
header date says. Some texts, mainly from Dick, are mangled in my
Netscape mail reader.

Dharmaji, what about switching the group to another news site?

Others I'd like to ask not to automatically quote whole long texts on
which they comment just by few words. Basic netiquette.

I hope the Mormon contraversy is over. I've read all that Branton stuff
before.
Hard to say what is true and what not but it is a duty of every follower
to defend
the teachings.

JanJM,

today is the 21st. You are saying that since the 19th you have not received
over 100 e-mails that were posted? but we haven't posted 100 in two days, I
don'tthink.Couldyou clarify this for me, I am interested?

I'm getting some, mainly Dharma's text, with two days delay as the
header date says. Some texts, mainly from Dick, are mangled in my
Netscape mail reader.

Two days delay? Can the rest of you give me some feedback?

Dharmaji, what about switching the group to another news site?

I'll switch to another list in a heartbeat, I haveone ready- but I don't
think that it offers a daily summary. Some people won't like that.

Others I'd like to ask not to automatically quote whole long texts on
which they comment just by few words. Basic netiquette.

Yes, don't send pages, just URLs. The reader will go to the page if he or
she wants.

I hope the Mormon contraversy is over. I've read all that Branton stuff
before.

It's over.

Hard to say what is true and what not but it is a duty of every follower
to defend
the teachings.

Yes, our list members are sincere.

Re: Some good information of migrations in the Arctic, from Marshall B
Gardner's book. Notice that there is Northward migration from Both North
America and Siberia, at the start of winter:

" In Ree's Encyclopedia there is, in one of the early articles a description
of Hudson Bay, and it is there stated that reindeer ' are seen in the
Spring season of the year, about the month of March or April, coming down
from the North, in droves of eight or ten thousand, and that they are known
to return northward in the month of October, when the snow becomes deep.'
The account goes on to say:

THE REINDEER

' We are informed by Professor Adams, of St. Petersburg, that on the
northern coast of Asia, every autumn the reindeer start northeastwardly from
the river Lena, and return again in the spring in good condition.'

Short of such a hospitable country as is afforded by the interior of the
earth, where could these animals possibly find warmth and nutriment!'"

I have posted this prompted by Hazel's good posting of mammalian life in the
Arctic. Gardner's book has a wealth of information on this, so I think that
we can get into it and discuss the significance.

Members,

Attached you will find a little more about pollen in the Arctic and mammals,
too, from pages 445 - 447 of Gardner's book. His book is available at Heath
Research: http://www.healthresearchbooks.com/categories/hollowearth.htm

Here is a bit more on mammals from my Arctic site, you have probably seen
this up before unless you are new:

Jan, I asked you once why religion was taboo, now I know. We all have our
own faiths and beliefs, so it can only create disputes, which is odd
considering we all worship the same Creator. But conspiracy theories are
depressing anyway, which is why I like the H.E., I see it as something
positive. Hazel

Jan... Your problem stated above is puzzling to me. Dean
recently COMMENTED on some of my text. I wonder if that is what you
received. ? Hope other list people let us know if THEY too have
had similar reception problems as you. Have any of you?

So far, I personally seem to be receiving all the emails sent
out (and sent by me) without any apparent problems. But I
use EUDORA for email, not Netscape or IE

(Use IE just for going to internet websites)

Is it possible that IE's (or?) Netscape's email programs
are part of the problem? Curious, because in all the time I've been
using email (with Eudora) I've yet to notice ANY problems.

(And I'm in a house built in 1936 with lousy wiring connections
which slow up 256K DSL for example! I contracted for DSL for
awhile last year - until realizing it wasn't any faster than 56K
through my antiquated wiring connections.) So old wiring probably
isn't a culprit

Hi Jan--

I thought I said from 100 + from ALL my groups, not just HE, so it had to be a Yahoo thing. I eventually went to Yahoo to see if Owners had a secret meeting and decided to have me Eliminated ...and began posting from there. I did a quick over view of all my groups and many post that had posted have still not been delivered. I have received almost none of the posts from the 19th, a hand full from the 20th, and today, all seems to be cool.

``
Sorry about the miss communication---

``

I know it was not my server cuz advertisements came right through, as well as posts from different web sites--it was just egroup mail........
