"Arrows" in Vedic Times

People,

I have been reading the Mahabharata, which contains The Bhagavad Gita on and off for quite a while now. I´m reading the 7th out of 10 books at the moment, page 71. of the Debroy translation.

I came across a comment about "energetic" arrows, which I had seen before, but I dwelled on this one.

"Sahadev quickly killed eight giant elephants with sixty-four extrmely energetic arrows, and brought them down, together with their riders. Nakula, the descendant of the Kuru lineagem carefully drew his supreme bow and used many straight-flying iron arrows to kill many elephants". Sahadev and Nakula were the brothers of Arjuna, of The Bhagavad GIta.

The Bhagavad Gita War took place in the previous yuga, the Dvarpara Yuga. There was still a cloud mantle up, and hence less gravity to deal with. Still, to say that the arrow was energetic means that the bow was more like a rocket launcher and that the arrow generated its own energy. Antigravitics must have been involved because there were vimanas in those days.

I have also read of arrows being shot by a bow with a mantra spoken onto it, such that it was able to follow its target, a flying vehicle, along with its maneuvers.
