too many lists

Jan,

This to ask you if you are aware of any problem
on the lists. Today has been unusually slow with the
list hollow earth e-mail. I saw before the flow dwindled
completely that someone else was noticing this also.
Perhaps is just a fluke. Who can know to say? I quite
the US_Politics list, not out of lack of interest but
because all it had turned into was a constant barrage
of verbal attacks and one line or three word replies.
Just before that I had 74 e-mails in one download.
One of the problems is that so much of the stuff is
replied to with meaningless one line replies and by
the fact that so many posts are often duplicated in
other lists whether they have anything to do with the
topic of that list or not.
Haven't heard from you in a while. I suppose that
you might be ticked off at me, but, my impatient streak
gets the better of me at times and I reacted finally to the
fact that I sent you my latest in program version and
heard nothing in return. It would have been interesting
to get your reaction but if I must do without, then that's
the way it is.
One of the problems about these lists is that they
take up so much time and I decided that I wasn't concentrating
enough on some of the things that I should be. I still
have ideas to add to the program, new projects and the
like. Matthew Taylor has finally gotten his book out and
I got my copy about four days ago. I could even make a
project out of some of the things that his book covers.
It is interesting in that with all the books that have
been written on this subject, there is a resemblance to the
old West wagon trains. It is like the Indians on the war
path and everyone is circling their wagons. Your seismology
ideas, which I still maintain are strictly your intellectual property
despite the fact that I wrote the program and added the gradient
factoring option, have a bearing on both my own gravity section
of the program and the ideas that Matt sets forth in his book.
Someday, we ought to all get together and have a hollow
planets convention. That would be a blast!

Take it easy,

Scott

My reply to Scott...

Scott,
Noticed the same as you. Daily get a great mass of Emails. Suddenly late last night and today, practically none (except an Email reply from Dean that I had an put extra letter in my last posting address. Suspect both MY two recent Emails failed to get through properly.) Sending this now to see IF this goes through or not.

- Dick Fojut in Tucson

From Page 89 of Caverns, Cauldrons and Concealed Creatures:

In 1987, a group of scientists from Peking University were setting up to
film wildlife in deep pools--unplumbed, really--near Wuhnan, Hubei Province.
As they were setting up their cameras and cables, three gigantic beasts,
with gaping mouths six feet wide, emerged from the water and began to swim
toward the stunned men, who were led by Professor Chen Mok Chun.

The group of nine witnesses described these creatures as "giant toads," pale
and ghastly, who examined the men with hunger; one of the things shot out a
gigantic tongue, wrapped it around some camera tripods, and devoured them.
The other two suddenly screamed horribly, and then all three submerged into
the unexplored depths of the pool (Dr. Karl Shuker, FATE, Sept. 1990).
