The Gold of The Gods
When the Spanish chronicler De Cieza described the wealth and might of the
Inca Empire, he suggested that much of the royal treasure--and population--had
been taken to an underground fastness in the Andes. Treasure hunters have
sought the entrances to this purported Inca stronghold over the centuries,
occasionally giving rise to stories of "passages lined with gold leaf" and
forgotten castles in the Peruvian Amazon. Erich Von Daniken wrote about such
