Rudy Rucker

(from a message I sent to Dean on Dec. 2nd)

Have you ever read Rudy Rucker's book, 'The Hollow Earth'. It's a
small paperback. Rucker says he found the manuscript written by Edgar
Allen Poe in a Virginia University library. It gives another twist on
the HE experience. He and a couple of other people entered the South
Pole when the ice they were on broke and they fell all the way
through the 800 miles. I found some of the story quite fascinating.

p.s. For a while Rucker was living in Los Gatos, California and
teaching at Stanford University (I think). He was listed in the phone
book there. I think he's currently living in the Palo Alto (CA) area
but I haven't been able to come with a current phone number.
