Moon Reflections ...

List Members,

I was observing The Moon this evening, albeit the atmosphere was a bit humid, but I always get a take-away.

When the angle of The Sun's rays is right - and it is always right at some point or other - brilliant reflections are seen, they intensely shine; from mountain tops, but mostly from crater walls because they are always angled outwards, like a bowl, so they reflect upwards.

If The Moon's surface just had black dirt, or even grey dirt, it wouldn't reflect like that. This confirms what Hoagland says about the Moon's soil having a significant crystalline content.

Cheers!
