Something that was mentioned to me this evening got me thinking about something I'd heard many years ago. This was that there's an underground private cave / cavern beneath the Dome of the Rock / Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Israel. From what I recall there is a guarded and private area that is considered too sacred or holy for anyone to go into this area.
I believe that during the Six-Day War in 1967 the Jews began excavation towards this point because everything was leading to the Holy of Holies being under the Dome of the Rock.
I find this interesting since it seems to me that this could very possibly indicate that there's an entrance point to the cavern world at this point and thus one of the reasons this is so important or considered holy to the Muslims as well as Jews.
Also this could be perhaps be the real reason why the Catholic Church fought so hard to obtain this region during the Crusades...
Need to do some more research on this topic...

Soretna , the Templar Knights certainly did find something very important underneath the dome of the rock - what it was has remained one of the greatest secrets .

Journey Deep Inside Zedekiah’s Cave
"We actually don't know the full size of it. Only about half of the cave has been uncovered... Biggest man made cave in all of Israel."
Sounds like this was from some time, unknown, before even 3,000 years ago, before Solomon. Also as they go deeper they find some connections with the Crusades, and supposedly the Knights Templar, as you mention @sidharthabahadur. To skip a lot of advertising directly to the deeper portions you can visit this timestamp.
Clearly there's evidence of a lot of "stuff" going on underneath Jerusalem...
Soretna , this is a good informative video about the subject .
King Solomon was a noble and powerful ruler of his own time....much later , during the time of the Crusades , the Templar Knights by chance , discovered some of King Solomon's secrets . This proved costly for them as they were heavily persecuted - many of them were even been burnt alive at the stake . It's really hard to understand the true cause for certain historical events !

@sidharthabahadur That is an interesting point. Do keep in mind also that the Templars were persecuted and killed because they also did some very bad things. They were known as rapists, thieves and murderers by many. They were one of the strong-arm organizations of the Catholic Church, along with the Knights Hospitaller and the Teutonic Knights. Harry Hubbard has made some fascinating videos about them.
Here is one all about the Templars, about 20 minutes long (pause the video while he scrolls through the pages and read their history): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRoyC8qQpa4
And here's another clip from a presentation about secret societies in general (this is about 44 minutes in, but the whole video is worth watching if you have the time): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9UZa5Qsowc&t=2671
They were basically an organized crime syndicate with extreme wealth and control over gold and the governments' banking. So they may have been attacked because they discovered some secrets, or perhaps because they were also very bad people.

@Ephraimite , you are most probably correct about the "mixed" track record of the Templar Knights...it is certain though , that whatever secrets they did manage to glean from underneath Solomon's Temple , helped them spawn some powerful secret societies that are still going strong .
