Hey Let's Throw an Asteroid at Earth and See What Happens...06/13/01 by Mitch Battros (ECTV)
No this is not a joke. Nasa has seriously brought this up as a true option to defend against 'Global Warming'. Remember folks, we pay these people. How would you like one day to find out our President has ordered Nasa to navigate a large comet our way to help 'nudge' Earth a bit out of its orbit? Sound crazy? Yes, I would think so. Just think of many missions to Mars and other planets, where Nasa "just missed". Or how many space shuttle flights were canceled at the last second. Unfortunately some were not canceled with tragic results. When this occurs, what is their typical answer "We're not sure just what happened".

Nasa aims to move Earth
Robin McKie - The Observer
Scientists have found an unusual way to prevent our planet overheating: move it to a cooler spot. All you have to do is hurtle a few comets at Earth, and its orbit will be altered. Our world will then be sent spinning into a safer, colder part of the solar system.
This startling idea of improving our interplanetary neighbourhood is the brainchild of a group of Nasa engineers and American astronomers who say their plan could add another six billion years to the useful lifetime of our planet - effectively doubling its working life.
'The technology is not at all far-fetched,' said Dr Greg Laughlin, of the Nasa Ames Research Center in California. 'It involves the same techniques that people now suggest could be used to deflect asteroids or comets heading towards Earth. We don't need raw power to move Earth, we just require delicacy of planning and manoeuvring.'
The plan put forward by Dr Laughlin, and his colleagues Don Korycansky and Fred Adams, involves carefully directing a comet or asteroid so that it sweeps close past our planet and transfers some of its gravitational energy to Earth. 'Earth's orbital speed would increase as a result and we would move to a higher orbit away from the Sun,' Laughlin said. Engineers would then direct their comet so that it passed close to Jupiter or Saturn, where the reverse process would occur. It would pick up energy from one of these giant planets. Later its orbit would bring it back to Earth, and the process would be repeated.
In the short term, the plan provides an ideal solution to global warming, although the team was actually concerned with a more drastic danger. The sun is destined to heat up in about a billion years and so 'seriously compromise' our biosphere - by frying us. Hence the group's decision to try to save Earth. 'All you have to do is strap a chemical rocket to an asteroid or comet and fire it at just the right time,' added Laughlin. 'It isbasic rocket science.'
The plan has one or two worrying aspects, however. For a start, space engineers would have to be very careful about how they directed their asteroid or comet towards Earth. The slightest miscalculation in orbit could fire it straight at Earth - with devastating consequences.
It is a point acknowledged by the group. 'The collision of a 100-kilometre diameter object with the Earth at cosmic velocity would sterilise the biosphere most effectively, at least to the level of bacteria,' they state in a paper in Astrophysics and Space Science. 'The danger cannot be overemphasised.'
There is also the vexed question of the Moon. As the current issue of Scientific American points out, if Earth was pushed out of its current position it is 'most likely the Moon would be stripped away from Earth,' it states, radically upsetting out planet's climate.
These criticisms are accepted by the scientists. 'Our investigation has shown just how delicately Earth is poised within the solar system,' Laughlin admitted. 'Nevertheless, our work has practical implications. Our calculations show that to get Earth to a safer, distant orbit, it would have to pass through unstable zones and would need careful nurturing and nudging. Any alien astronomers observing our solar system would know that something odd had occurred, and would realise an intelligent lifeform was responsible.
'And the same goes for us. When we look at other solar systems, and detect planets around other suns - which we are now beginning to do - we may see that planet-moving has occurred. It will give us our first evidence of the handiwork of extraterrestrial beings.'

I do believe you are correct when you mention insanity. Maybe all of us here should run NASA for a change.....they could give us a trial of one year......wouldn't that be cool. Of course, we should have complete access to all their files. But, on a more serious note---they have got to be kidding???? A little nudge to the right........whoa, I don't know, hope I'm not here when they try it, and someday, I am sure they will.

Re: [allplanets-hollow] Hey Let's Throw an
Asteroid at
Leslee and all...
I was astounded when I heard the story you
listed below, on network TV! These are expert scientists with NASA.
They can plot a trajectory for rockets to move through the solar
system, yet they seem totally IGNORANT about WHY and HOW planets
orbit around the Sun.
I am astounded that they (plus NASA's top
people and unnamed "astronomers") BELIEVE earth's orbit and
distance from the Sun is some sort of mysterious accidental
arrangement. Clearly, these respected and highly paid NASA
experts have revealed they are fundamentally STUPID about the
Sun and why planets orbit the Sun at different distances.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to "nudge" the earth into a
different orbit and distance from the Sun. WHY? Because, depending
on the MAGNETIC CAPACITY of each planet (the volume of magnetic
forces stored in its crust**), each planet is held in a precise
NEUTRAL zone orbit around the Sun**. The precise neutral zone is at that distance where our Sun's magnetic and centrifugal forcescancel each other. At that neutral zone, each satellite can be
thrown out no further by the Sun's centrifugal force, prevented by
the Sun's magnetic pull. And the Sun's magnetic force cannot pull the
satellite into the Sun, countermanded by the Sun's centrifugal force.
It is a CHECKMATE of antagonistic forces, forming a neutral zone of
orbit.
Don't know Cater's view about this, but I
suspect David Pratt is also astounded
- and laughing - as would James Churchward, if he were
still alive.
Just days ago I related, from Churchward,
why the solar system's planets are in precise and separate orbits
around the Sun. And remember, he says these are not HIS ideas. If
we can believe him, he had simply rediscovered the scientific
knowledge known well to earth's ancient scientists 70,000 years back.
And still known by some 3,000 years ago, but subsequently
forgotten...
According to Churchward, each
orbiting body has a different magnetic capacity. A planet's
CRUST is its "storage house," its "battery." The planet's
forces, including all electromagnetic forces, saturate its crust,
held close by its "central" magnet (deep in the crust), until
called forth by nature to carry out their duties on the surface and
in the atmosphere.
The THICKNESS and DENSITY of each planet's
hard outside crust (for its size) indicates its magnetic capacity. The thicker and denser the crust, the greater the volume of forces
stored in the crust, the greater its magnetic power. The greater
its magnetic capacity, stored in its crust, the closer it will orbit
the Sun. The following are quotations from Churchward's chapter on
the SUN, out of context, but I think sufficient to paint a picture
and explain why it is impossible for the child minds at NASA to
"nudge" the earth into a different orbit...
Churchward:
"For the sun to carry the earth around herself in an orbit, four
separate and distinct forces are required.
Three of these must emanate from the sun,
and One from the earth.
The four forces are:
A sun's propellent force to carry the
earth along in her orbit.
A sun's repellent force to prevent the
earth from being drawn into the sun.
A sun's magnetic force to prevent the
repellent force from carrying the earth out into space.
An earthly magnetic force or forces that are
affinitive to the sun's propellent and magnetic forces.
It may involve two earthly magnetic forces
or only one, I cannot say.
I have heretofore
shown that all these forces exist. Two of the sun's forces, the
magnetic and repellent, must form a neutral zone. The
repellent force at the sun's surface must be stronger than the
magnetic force, and from the sun's surface must diminish in
strength as it works out into space. The magnetic must be weaker at
the sun's surface than the repellent and also diminish in strength
as it moves out into space, but the rate at which its power
diminishes must be much slower than that of the repellent; then,
at a given point dependent on the magnetic capacity of the planet, a
neutral zone will be formed, from which she cannot
stray.
**Each of the
planets has a different magnetic capacity**. Therefore, as their
magnetism differs, so must their neutral zones differ in distance
from the sun. Thus it is shown why Mercury is so close to the sun and
Neptune so far away as to be out of sight.
Apparently, I
cannot say it authoritatively, the magnetic capacity is governed
by density. If our scientists are correct in their assertions
about the densities of the planets, the planet nearest to the sun is
the densest and the farthest one away the least dense of
all."
···
*More from
Churchward.... *
"**NEUTRAL ZONES.**
The neutral zones
of the earth and planets are shown in the diagram of the solar
system, page 188 (not shown) as circles parallel to the sun with a
planet on each circle. The neutral zone of a satellite is governed
by her magnetic capacity. Her magnetic capacity in turn is governed
by the elements composing the body, the thickness of the crust, and
the general density. This is fully verified by the bodies composing
the solar system.
**The higher or greater the magnetic
capacity of a planet is, the nearer will be her neutral zone to the
sun, and the body with the lowest magnetic capacity will have its
neutral zone the farthest away from the sun.**
A body, when
given an impetus by a temporary force, flies forward, commencing in a
straight line, and continues on in this straight line until some
magnetic force attracts it, and eventually stops it having overcome a
temporary force. Then the magnetic force claims the body. If,
however, the propellent force is not of a temporary character, and of
a circular movement, with sufficiently strong centrifugal and
magnetic forces governing it, so as to form a neutral zone, then the
flight must be everlasting."
**More from
Churchward...**
"The earth and planets can be carried out by the
sun's centrifugal force just so far and no further. They are
compelled each and all to remain in their neutral zones. For at
the distance from the sun at which they are placed, the sun's
magnetic force is holding them against the sun's centrifugal force.
Neither the earth or any of the planets can be drawn into the sun,
for, within their neutral zones, the sun's repellent force is
stronger than the magnetic, and prevents their nearer approach to the
sun.
**The earth and each of the planets have
their own separate degrees of magnetic capacity, and all being
different, no two have the same neutral zone. Therefore they cannot
collide with each other.**
To have two
planets occupying the same neutral zone, it would be necessary to
have the two bodies of identically the same size, composed of
identically the same element, and in the same exact proportion one to
the other, and with identically the same thickness of crust.
Otherwise, their magnetic capacity would not be the same; not being
the same, it is impossible for them to have the same neutral
zone."
*And this last
part from Churchward (some of which you may disagree
with)..*.
"DEDUCTIONS.
All forces
connected with the earth's circuit around the sun are even and
everlasting.
The earth cannot stop
her flight around the sun as long as the sun continues to be a living
body.
The earth cannot be drawn into the sun.
The earth cannot be hurled off into
space.
The earth cannot collide with any other
body.
Each body in the solar system has its
neutral zone.
Each body in the universe has its neutral
zone.
No two neutral zones cross each other.
No body can be drawn out of its neutral
zone.
The sun has a hard crust and a soft
center.
The sun is not committing slow suicide by
burning up. The sun is a cool body.
The sun supplies no heat beyond her
atmosphere.
A pole may be magnetized and de-magnetized
many times during a circuit around the governing body.
I have very
inadequately shown what the great Cosmic Forces are and their manner
of working, but trust that at least some who read this work will find
it sufficiently explicit to understand what I wish to
convey." -- James Churchward.
Whether you
disagree with some of Churchward's above statements (or not),
I think the preceding reveals someone with MORE understanding
about the nature and functioning of our solar system, than the
kindergarten theorists currently inhabiting the funny farm called
NASA, who want to "nudge" earth into a different orbit. I'm
throwing up again!

Hi Dick and all--
What you wrote above is precisely why I posted what I did from Etidorhpa last night: ** Matter obeys Spirit!** I remembered reading it after I read Machoarm's post about choosing to live within the Spirit, which in truth is the best place one can live, as there the vision is clean, the voice clear, completely void of material brainwashing. As Laura has suggested, advertising is the greatest form of both brainwashing and control.
We are an ignorant Nation Dick, and our ignorance will eventually be our demise. If only science could accept that there are invisible forces at work throughout all of the galaxy, and that we are all connected for a reason, then perhaps, if not already too late, the messes we make could be ratified.
But, science is an unfortunate lot, intent on debunking what they can not see, or prove--therefore, spirit means nothing to them. Most spend too much time relying on what has been "supposedly" proven by those scientists who traveled ahead of them, instead of reaching deep within their own creative intelligence, which by the way, is the spirit, and not in the logical aspect of the brain. We are at the hands of mad scientists--and I, for one, think that they should throw their books away, along with their degrees and practice a bit if humility, we would all be the better for it.
Thanks for both yours and Laura's insight.
