For all who are keeping track of the earth changes. And Ralph, recall in a private email that I said all earthquake sensitive people are feeling these quakes very intensely now, but with so many in one day all over the world, makes it hard to pick one location, when there may be 10 different locations, but in varying magnitudes. This is the list in the last 3 days only. Scroll on down and take a peek of all the activity, and the quakes below a mag of 3 are not even listed. Leslee

This New Moon, with a day of nearly complete seismic silence after the Eclipse
to add suspense, sprouted major quakes around the world even in areas which
rarely see them.

As can be seen a lot of seismic activity suddenly released in surprising places
- NORTHERN EUROPE even in Netherlands, Germany, Russia,
Fairly good sized quake in Greek Waters though quakes in Greece are pretty common. (The Peloponesian Pen. is a pretty crumpled up unstable tectonic zone).
From the Swiss Red Puma Database, which ususally is more complete than other
databases, this list shows the activity of this New Moon Syzygy. (there may be a few duplicate listings caused by slight differences in report details from various locations around the world - if multiple quakes for the same area all occurred within the same minute, it near certain that the multiples are duplicates).
In the following list only seismic events grouped with at least one manual or two automatic locations do occur and represent an actual seismic event. Consequently, both the automatically updated Swiss epicenter plot as well as the world-wide epicenter plot contain only epicenters based on at least one manual or two automatic locations. Only events with an average magnitude larger/equal than 3 are listed. Click on the highlighted latest Swiss location and see the recorde seismograms.

Thousands flee as Mayon spews molten lava
Posted: 6:02 PM (Manila Time) | June 24, 2001
By Agence France-Presse and INQ7.net
Massive eruptions shook Mayon volcano on Sunday, sending more than 11,000
people fleeing from superheated rocks shooting up from its crater, officials
said.
With a sound like extended claps of thunder, huge geysers of rocks, lava and
gray ash spurted from the crater rim at 12:15 pm (0415 GMT) and then again at
3:03 pm (0703 GMT), residents and reporters on the scene said.
Volcanologists said the material shot up to a height of up to 15
kilometers (9.3 miles) from the apex of the 2,467-meter (8,141-feet) mountain.
"The skies went dark in Malilipot and Santo Domingo," two
towns near the northern slopes of Mayon, provincial social
welfare officer Jim Rebustillo told AFP. "The volcano roared
like thunder."
Authorities placed the area under maximum alert signaling a major "hazardous
eruption." Director Rey Punongbayan of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology
and Seismology said intermittent eruptions will continue in the next two weeks.
Volcanic ash rained down on the towns of Camalig,
Guinobatan and Ligao to the south, while lava flowed towards a now-abandoned
village on the outskirts of Legaspi, near
Mayon's southeast flank, Rebustillo said.
He said 11,156 people from nine villages had fled their homes and sought refuge
in schools in Legaspi and four nearby towns.
Local television showed sleepless residents, many of them
women carrying babies, clambering aboard flatbed trucks
before dawn as molten lava fragments created a fiery mountain above the crater.

Volcano Erupts in Central Philippines
By KIKO ROSARIO
.c The Associated Press
LEGAZPI, Philippines (AP) - After rumbling for five months, one of the
Philippines' most active volcanoes erupted Sunday in fountains of bright red
lava and towering clouds of ash as car-sized boulders tumbled down its
slopes.
One massive explosion from the Mayon volcano spewed ash more than nine miles
high, with continuous columns of nearly 2,000 feet, officials said. Visibility dropped to near zero within hours as the enormous mushroom cloud began to settle, turning the green landscape gray.
At least 7,000 villagers living within five miles fled their homes, said Jason Aragon, a civil defense officer in charge of the evacuation. At least 3,000 others in the path of the lava were ordered out as well, but some remained to watch the spectacle and watch over livestock and crops.
``I left because it was making strong noises,'' said Lorna Azona, who was among hundreds of villagers at an evacuation center Sunday in the provincial capital Legazpi. ``The lava flow was getting strong.''
Depending on lava flow, as many as 60,000 could be forced to evacuate to Legazpi, Aragon said, adding that an elderly woman died of a heart attack during the evacuation but no other injuries were reported.
With the threat of rain remaining in the wake of a tropical storm, concerns rose over the possibility of flows of mud and ash like those that buried a town and killed 1,200 people in the volcano's worst known eruption in 1814.
The southeast portion of the crater showed visible signs of weakening Sunday and may give way in days, loosing more lava down the slope of the volcano, scientists said.
Eduardo Laguerta, resident vulcanologist, said a lava dome about 100 feet wide had formed on the crater. Collapsed domes have continuously been expelling rocks and pyroclastic flows - superheated clouds of volcanic ash that travel down a volcano's slopes at up to 50 mph - which instantly incinerate anything in their path.
Audible explosions shook the ground more than eight miles away as officials were preparing emergency shelters and evacuation plans, said emergency coordinator Cedric Dive.
The 8,118-foot Mayon, a well-known tourist attraction because of its near-perfect conical shape, began acting up in January, but had been at alert level 3 - of a possible 5 - for weeks. After a brief 160-foot fountain of lava late Saturday, authorities raised the alert to 4, then quickly put it at 5 early Sunday afternoon, meaning an eruption was in progress.
The volcano could spit lava and red-hot boulders for several days or even weeks, said Raymundo Punongbayan, director of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Mayon, 200 miles southeast of Manila, towers over farming communities in the Bicol region. At least 47 eruptions have been recorded since 1616. The last, in February 2000, forced some 68,000 people from their homes, while one in 1993 killed more than 70 villagers.
The Philippines is in the Pacific ``Ring of Fire,'' with frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity.
