Dean: I was checking a map to see what is shown at 82 degrees lat and 85 degrees long. It looks like it may be Ellsmire island, but I am still not sure what is north of it. I was referring to the small white dot in the center of the picture. I still think we must find what is forming this large circular cloud formation in this picture. I still believe this is the same cloud formation that is shown in Jan's book when you check out plates 7 and 8 in his book. This may also be plate 6 in his book. I am not sure if Bradley land is shown. I'll have to check the map again. I checked out the Map you mentioned. I would have to get back and read the book on that. Anyway thanks for posting these pictures and mentioning me on that one site. From: Ralph

Members,
Here is some typical stuff from page 256 of Gardner's book " A Journey to the Earth's Interior."
" He also notes the fact that no matte how far North the human explorer goes he always finds that the polar bear is a little ahead of him, and no matte how far North these bears are met with, they are always on their way further north.
Speaking of Dr. Kane's voyages this same author says:
' It was found that animal life abounded. Musk oxen were shot, at intervals, throughout the winter. ... Wolves, bears, foxes, and other animals were repeatedly observed. Geese, ducks, and other waterfowl including plover and other wading birds, were very plentiful during the summer . . . there were large numbers of ptarmigan or snow partridge . . . The waters were found to be filled to an extraordinary degree with marine invertebrata, including jellyfish and shrimps. Seals were very abundant. Numerous insects were observed also, especially several species of butterfly, flies, bees, and insects of like character. Quite an extensive and varied collection of specimens was secured.'
-and those observations were made north of latitude 82."
