I think that we could agree that folklore usually sa thread of truth to it.
And why are there traditional stories about frogs from around the world, such as in Tibet, China and Shri Lanka ? Frogs, that is, that always have mystic powers. What connection was there for tales about mystic frogs, of all things, to circulate over such disconnected distances? In medieval times or earlier, no less!
