Apache

Dean,

You crack me up!! :-p~ Yes, the Apache Nation inhabited the south/southwestern
regions, from Texas on westward, mainly inhabiting south central and west Texas
through New Mexico and Arizona. There are, as you probably know, stories of the
Apaches disappearing into mountains and later reappearing in distant locations.
There are many caves in south central Texas (having been born and raised there
myself, I use to love to go 'exploring' the caves when I was a child). Recent
research has led me to information that there are tunnel systems beneath - at
least, San Antonio. I'm not sure about other cities in Texas, although it would
stand to reason, no?

According to wikipedia:

There was little political unity among the Apachean groups. The groups spoke
seven different languages. The current division of Apachean groups includes the
Navajo, Western Apache, Chiricahua, Mescalero, Jicarilla, Lipan, and Plains
Apache (formerly Kiowa-Apache). Apache groups live in Oklahoma and Texas and on
reservations in Arizona and New Mexico.
Some Apacheans have moved to large metropolitan areas. The largest Apache urban
communities are in Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Phoenix, Denver, San Diego and
Los Angeles.[citation needed] Some Apacheans were employed in migrant farm labor
and relocated to agricultural regions of Southern California, such as the
Coachella, Imperial and Colorado River valleys, where now tens of thousands of
Apacheans live.[citation needed]
I don't always trust the information on wikipedia, but there you have it. Dean,
I don't know if the modern Apaches still have contact with the inner worlds,
unless only via astral travel/shamanic practices. Having been 'broken by THE
MAN' and moved all around and relocated to reservations that are probably
nowhere near caves or tunnels, I rather doubt that they would still have been
able to keep that connection. Obviously, I do not know this definitively, but
that is what I feel. I hope that is not true, however. I have a smidgeon of
Apache ancestry in my family, and hope with all my might that that part of my
family tree has been able to maintain their connections and knowledge.

Fascinating topic though!!

I was wondering about the quote on sound at the bottom of Holly's
message. Is there more to this?

Holly,

"T" is for Texas! My aunt Beatrice once asked me: "Did you know that they serve pie with a shovel in Texas?"

She said: "Everything's big in Texas!"

I must have been about six years old, and I was very impressed by this information.

#:^ )

Anyway, have you read that piece about the Panamints?

http://www.holloworbs.com/Death_Valley.htm

I didn't know the Apache were so common and numerous. I thought that they had vanished or something. Surely they have lost any contact if they are living in places like OK City and Lost Angeles. (It's a misnomer, not because of the "Lost" Part, but because there are no "Angeles" left in the place!) At the current moment, the Eskimos don't have any collective memory of the opening, and the Tibetans aren't familiar with their folklore about Shangri La anymore, either. So there you have it.

Did you know that there was a U.S. aircraftcarrier named The Shangri La? Now how did the Navy go for that one?

Laytah! I mean, Later!
