Tuscan,
That must be the same book my friend mentioned to me. He had read the book
some time ago, but he told me that they entered via the Chesapeake Bay area,
he must have got some of it twisted around over time.

I saw this book several years ago in a discount store, yet didn't
pick it up. It was listed as fiction, and seemed pretty obviously to
be so. It seemed to be an homage to Poe and his story, "Mss.
Found in a Bottle." With a bit of appreciation towards Burroughs
and other pulp-era writers thrown in. Rucker has a reputation as
a very creative fiction writer.
If any of you can ascertain for some reason that this book isn't
fiction, I'll definitely be taking another look at it....

I'm sure it is the same book. In the 'story' they exit the HE via
Chesapeake Bay.
I think the book is worth reading, if you can find it. It definitely
gives some different perspectives of life in the HE. Particularily
the zone between the inner surface and the 'inner sun', an area
called the 'umpteen seas'.

In many traditions around the world, iron is believed to have a
particular efficacy against the influence of underworld beings.
This is as true in Celtic and British folklore as it is in some
Japanese and other accounts. Much of this data is discussed in
HIDDEN NEIGHBORS, which is a section in the book. After
careful considerations of some of these accounts and beliefs,
and taking into account many apparent electromagnetic
connections which exist in regard to hauntings, UFO activity, ley
lines, "places of power," and so forth, it seems that perhaps iron
has a disruptive effect upon electrical or electromagnetic fields.
When one considers that we are all, in effect, electromagnetic
creatures, this makes some degree of sense. The Highland
Scots, Gaelic Irish, and the Norse were especially aware of this
connection, and it's mentioned by Robert Kirk in THE SECRET
COMMONWEALTH, wherein which he in fact states that not only
iron, but some "ultimate lodestone" in some depth of the north is
most greatly feared by the "subterraneans." The following is
from a posting I made to another list on this same topic:
Begin Quote:
It's just a theory. But there has to be an underlying explanation
which provides a logical "unifying field" for things like telepathy,
precognition, clairvoyance, reincarnation, etc. We know that the
human brain definitely is a radio transmitter and receiver which
is also highly electromagnetic in nature and activity; the most
powerful naturally-occuring electromagnetic field that we know
of, and which we all bathe in constantly, is that of the Earth itself.
Some "hauntings" are thought to be imprints or recordings of
extremely emotional events in the environment, and this is an
electromagnetic phenomenon which has often been measured
with equipment. By the same token, "places of power," mystical
locations, ley lines, vortices, and so forth all are distinguished by
a much higher-than-average electromagnetic field.
This doesn't negate any experience or even a memory in any
way. But things of "spirit" definitely seem to have some sort of
electromagnetic connection.
End Quote. Hope this answers your question.

I have just attached some of Mr. Cater's comments on UFOs, " SOME " UFOs as
life forms. It might be a bit off topic, but I am warming up to a UFO, HE
post.
I am going to post this under the Sun Cruiser article.
In the Sun Cruiser article, you'll notice that Arjuna brought down the
Flying City of Hiranyapur with an iron " arrow."

List Members,
Here is something on UFOs from the site of Rod M. Cluff,
www.ourhollowearth.com
" Aime Michel, in his book, FLYING SAUCERS AND THE STRAIGHT-LINE MYSTERY,
published in 1958, cited
extensive observations proving that most of the flight patterns of flying
saucers are in a north-south direction, which
would indicate that their origin is polar, coming from the polar openings. "
Here is a comment from pages 189 - 190 of The Hollow Earth: " In his book '
They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers,' Barker speaks of the " Antartic
Mystery," or the unusual number of flying saucers seen to ascend and descend
in the region of the South Pole, which strongly supports the theory of a
polar opening through which flying saucers emerge from and enter the hollow
interior of the Earth."
And here is testimony, culled from the book Alien Identites by Doctor
Richard L. Thompson, to the effect of a flying saucer which took someone
underground: " Betty Andreason ( Alien Identities, page 201 ) recalled
being taken in a UFO through a tunnel bored through solid rock. This tunnel
led through a strange landscape with a view of an ocean, a distant city and
a pyramid."
The reason that I'm running all this by you is that it struck me the other
day that whenever we talk about the hollow Earth, we never talk about their
vehicles. Olaf gave testimony about some kind of train which travels a few
feet above the ground, obviously due to some kind of magnetic or maybe
electrostatic repulsion, but we don't know much more. And that's the point-
we have practically no info to go on.
Does anybody know of any sources or testimony in relation to UFOs which
disappear beneath the Earth?
