am getting too cynical, but they wouldn't admit it if they were monitoring
the NHE opening. Why so much interest in just the Northern Lights? Why didn't
the research done by the two NASA scientists (polar fountains) make front
page news; I think that info slipped past the editors of NASA's magazine -
somebody goofed up letting that out of the bag.

This point which you make below is so good. The NASA study was based on the
results from a satellite which took in data in 1982 or 1984, and the results
were just made public in 1997, in that article. There hasn't been much
divulgation of the news. When I talk to people, they still think that the
Sun is the source of the whole ballgame.
