"The authors claim that the burst of radiation from a nearby supernova, circa 12,500 years ago, not only reset radiocarbon clocks but also heated the planet's atmosphere, melted ice sheets, and led to biological extinctions."
"Comment. Thus we add another potential cause of an often-hypothesized 12,500-BP catastrophe that is said to have changed the world's history. Competing theories involve asteroid impact, volcanism, a Venusian side-swipe, etc."
Note that the approximate date they list is around the same period (if you give any credence to Churchward) that developing subterranean gas "belt" tunnels were pushing earth's surface rock layers above them upward into our present mountain ranges... AND also were penetrating into formerly isolated gas chambers that had been long upholding land above water surface, over-compressing them until their roofs cracked open allowing all gases to escape into the atmosphere. The land surfaces collapsed to the chamber floors.
According to Churchward SOME of those upheld land areas (that he was able to identify) that sank beneath the ocean beginning around 12,000 plus years past, were the EUROPEAN LAND BRIDGE (land connecting Europe and Canada, of which the British Isles and probably Iceland are remnants that remained above water. Most probably because they were positioned above on solid bed rock that had been BETWEEN gas pockets.), Ancient Ceylon ( Just south of India), MU, covering much of the Pacific - and, sinking last, was ATLANTIS.
Note the "comment" paragraph above mentions "volcanism" as a competing theory for the apparent evidence. Unfortunately the writer probably has no idea HOW "volcanism" could have produced the evidence (gases pushing up volcanos and explosively emptying as with flames and lava.) He, and the science authors never read Churchward.
The violent volcanic upheavals of that period (described by Churchward) and the emptying into the atmosphere and onto the surface of nitrogen and other explosive ignited gases and chemical compounds, along with undoubted accompanying massive electrical and electromagnetic discharges from earth to the skies and back again, might well have produced some of the effects these researchers think were "nuclear." Picture the possible maelstrom for yourselves.
Perhaps the preceding geological violence I've described wasn't a cause, and the scientists are correct with their theory of a nuclear catastrophe. If so, the matching approximate dates with Churchward's, must be sheer coincidence!
But the scientist-authors, also supposing the event "melted" the mythical geological ice glaciers, seems to me just a long-stretch of their imaginations. And their exaggerated inventive notion of a SUPER NOVA, they have absolutely no evidence of, as THE cause, also of "biological extinctions," greatly lessens credence of all the rest they want us to believe..
It's just my opinion, but I think the authors may be MISreading the "evidence" that seems to indicate to them a nuclear catastrophe 12,500 years past. What do you any of you think?

***Yes, Dick, I have been reading a bit about Churchward and that is what popped into my head...the dating.

****David Icke's new book : Children of the Matrix gets into this a little. He is also a big fan of Churchward. You might want to order his book, but I will warn you I have not read the whole thing, and I do have a tendency to jump for places to others and not always red in sequence when I first begin a book. SO, I have not yet got to the place where I begin the book again, and read from start to finish...but, the parts I have read do coincide with Churchward quite a bit.
<If so, the matching approximate dates with Churchward's, must be sheer coincidence
***I'm not a big fan of coincidences.

***Dick, to be honest with you, I don't know what to think. I do not have enough science or history under my belt to make an educated specualtion.

list Members,
I want to let you all know that I have been curtailing my internet activity a bit because of the electricity/blackout situation in Brazil. We have been given quotas by the power company, and it will be difficult for me to hang on the computer like I used to, what to speak of doing research.
I have been able to use another computer, from which my posts say that they are from [email protected]
This will help.
I havea couple of comments to volunteer, but I'll do it tomorrow from that other computer. That other place hasa large quota.
I hope someone caught the Dennis Crenshaw interview. The guy isn't making this effort for his health, he deserves some support.
